The Magic City Welcomes Square Pie City with Open Arms
Miami chef Jeremiah Bullfrog has finally realized his dream of opening a standalone brick-and-mortar restaurant for his Square Pie City concept. After years of experimentation and setbacks, the Miami native launched his square-pan pie pop-up at various locations around the city, including Boxelder and Babe’s Meat Counter. He then opened his first permanent location at Miami Beach’s Time Out Market in 2021. However, Bullfrog was not satisfied and decided to expand into a larger standalone location earlier this year.
A Slice of the Northeastern Culture in Miami
Bullfrog’s goal for Square Pie City is to bring the slice-shop experience to Miami, just like what you would find in the Northeast. The casual space offers a walk-up counter for to-go orders. Indoor seating for dine-in guests, and an online ordering platform for takeout and delivery. The deck oven is placed next to the counter so customers can have a conversation with the pizza chef. Get their slice just the way they like it.
Familiar Menu, Same Great Taste
Fans of Square Pie City can expect to find the same menu they love. Popular red and white pies available with vegan or gluten-free substitutes. The thick base is topped with cheese, smothered in sauce, and baked to perfection for the crispy edges that Detroit square pies are known for. Diners can choose from half pies (four slices) . Full pies (six slices) priced between $17.
Standout Red and White Pies
The standout red pies include the “Classix” with mozzarella. Provolone, and Parmesan beneath a layer of Bullfrog’s proprietary marinara sauce. There’s also the spicy “Red in the Head. Fire in the Bed” pie with heat from Calabrian chilies and chili-infused oil. The white pies include the “All White E’rrythang” with mozzarella, housemade ricotta, Parmesan, and roasted garlic. “Many Magical Mushrooms” with caramelized cremini mushrooms, mozzarella, asiago, garlic, and a housemade porcini “dust.”
A New Home for Square Pie City
Square Pie City is now open for business on the western edge of the Miami Design District. The casual space offers a walk-up counter for to-go orders. Indoor seating for dine-in guests, and an online ordering platform for takeout and delivery. The menu offers Detroit-inspired square pies and wood-fired fare. Giving Miami a taste of the Northeastern slice-shop experience.
